COMPANY HISTORY

Originating from humble beginnings in the East End of London, the Company founded by the late Jack Davis and known today as Davis Distribution, has grown over the years to become one of Europe's largest independent distributors of industrial sewing machines.

As leaders in this field, it has always been our policy to market only the best products; hence our long and successful association with Brother and Seiko, whose machines we pioneered in the UK over 40 years ago and are now universally acknowledged as market leaders. We work closely together with our manufacturers in Japan and our Managing Director, Peter Davis, liases with them personally regarding research and development and the marketing of machinery specifically for the United Kingdom, and this has encouraged our consistent expansion. As exclusive and established distributors, we give a complete specialist service.Our progressive approach to advanced technology has ensured that our equipment can now be adapted and tailor-made to individual requirements. The machinery we supply is now so diverse- they are installed in areas ranging from the smallest workshop unit to the largest blue chip companies, and now cover a wide cross-section of commerce which has given us international recognition.

In 1975 we enlarged our spare parts and ancillary division to encompass our ever-expanding product base, and with increasing business both in the UK and world wide we have found it necessary to re-locate to larger premises. Our last move in 1988 was to our present headquarters, 'Davis House' which coincided with Brother's pearl anniversary celebrating 30 years of Brother in Europe. In 1994, a plaque was unveiled in our boardroom, celebrating the formation of Seiko Sewing Machine Company UK, affirming Seiko's European presence. In 1996, we were proud to be appointed Sole UK distributors of Treasure special purpose machinery, reflecting Treasure's European image.

Davis House is a totally new concept for our industry. Designed as a "one-stop" sewing machine supercentre where customers are able to purchase all their machinery requirements including the full range of ancillary equipment and spare parts all under one roof! We have a permanent Exhibition of the very latest high technology and state-of-the-art machinery in operation in our showrooms, and offer technical advice, demonstrations, sampling and tuition.
